Suspension of Activities of the Federal Judicial Branch

On August 19, 2024, employees of the Federal Judicial Branch (PJF) began an indefinite suspension of activities in response to the judicial reform initiative that, in their opinion, affects their labor rights and the fundamental rights of all Mexicans.

The National Association of Magistrates and District Judges of the Federal Judicial Branch (JUFED) agreed to suspend activities in all courts and tribunals belonging to the PJF as of August 21, 2024. As of today, the suspension does not apply to the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation or to the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judicial Branch.

The Federal Judicial Council has not decreed a general suspension of activities; in its Circular 16/2024 of August 19, 2024, it established the urgent cases that will have to be addressed during the suspension (mostly criminal matters and precautionary measures).
