Our commitment

At Mijares, we play a key role in promoting equality, addressing environmental and human rights crises, and supporting LGBTIQ+ and women's rights in order to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) Committee

We have a Diversity and Inclusion Committee responsible for developing corporate strategy, defining initiatives, ensuring internal and external communication, and assessing progress on the Firm's diversity objectives. This is intended to represent a competitive advantage and forward-thinking approach to benefit the various matters we handle and the organizations we work for daily.

Initiatives and Alliances

  • UN Global Compact: We have joined the UN Global Compact, emphasizing sustainability at leadership levels.
  • Conferences and Workshops: We organize awareness events on D&I, advocating for gender equality, LGTBIQ+ rights, and disability inclusion.
  • Milestones: We celebrate the tenth anniversary of employing a young person with an intellectual disability.

Diversity and Inclusion are fundamental elements in our Firm, and indeed, we consider them a great strength. The Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact are derived from: the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Labour Organization's Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development, and the United Nations Convention against Corruption.

Being a signatory to this initiative commits us to strengthen our commitment to sustainability from the highest level of leadership within our Firm as part of our DNA, as well as providing us with the appropriate framework to reinforce our responsible and ethical long-term commitment to our employees, clients, stakeholders, and society at large. Our objective both internally and externally is the proper implementation of corporate sustainability strategies, for which our Firm will continue to reinforce and implement necessary strategies, policies, actions, and procedures, developing resources and best practices in line with our ethical values and culture of integrity, respecting fundamental responsibilities regarding human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption efforts. This is aimed at fulfilling commitments to operate responsibly with people and the planet, thus laying solid long-term foundations.

More than 900 organizations are members of the Mexican Network of the Global Compact, and for Mijares Angoitia Cortés y Fuentes, it is a significant commitment to belong to a group of organizations willing to make changes in their value chain to conduct sustainable business.

Provision of legal services

Pro Bono

Pro Bono work is a fundamental part of the social responsibility our Firm is committed to. We firmly believe that contributing to a fairer society is inherent to the integrity and ethics of professionals.

Our commitment to Pro Bono work is evident every day as an institutional effort to provide free legal services for the benefit of low-income individuals and communities or those facing barriers to accessing justice, as well as organizations advocating for social causes or representing matters of public interest.

Alliances and committee

  • We are signatories to the Pro Bono Declaration for the Americas by the Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice and to the Pro Bono Standards Mexico. Additionally, we have established partnerships with the Mexican clearinghouses  Appleseed México, A.C., Centro Mexicano Pro Bono, A.C. y Fundación Barra Mexicana de Abogados, A.C.
  • We have a Pro Bono Committee and a Pro Bono Coordinator to institutionalize Pro Bono work within our firm.
  • Our Pro Bono work adheres to the highest standards of quality and is treated with the same level of care as we provide to our commercial clients.
