On January 8, 2025, it was published on the Mexican Federal Official Gazette (“DOF”), the Resolution that announces the creation and operation of the digital platform named Ventanilla Electrónica Ambiental (“VEA”), by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources ("SEMARNAT").
As of the effective date of statute of said Resolution, which is, January 9, 2025, interested persons may access the VEA to be registered as users and create their digital citizen folder[1], at the link: https://servicios.semarnat.gob.mx/vea-ciudadanos/
What is the purpose of the VEA?
It is an integrated platform for filing procedures and accessing digitalized environmental services.
Who is the VEA aimed at?
Individuals or legal entities interested in filing SEMARNAT procedures.
What procedures can be submitted through the VEA?
SEMARNAT must publish in the DOF the procedures that will be enabled through the VEA.
[1] It is the subsystem of the VEA through which applicants generate, using their unique digital identity key, an individual folder in which any type of digital document requested by SEMARNAT is registered, such as official ID, public deed, power of attorney, among others. These documents will be used to process the procedure submitted by the petitioner.
Other relevant aspects:
• Procedures submitted in person as of January 9, 2025, which are enabled to be filed through the VEA, must be submitted and consulted for follow-up through said means.
• Procedures submitted by the VEA will be conducted through such platform up to their resolution.
• For electronic notifications and alerts, SEMARNAT has enabled an environmental mailbox for users of the VEA. Notifications made through the environmental mailbox will become effective on the day they are made.
• Procedures filed with SEMARNAT prior to the effective date of a statute of the Resolution, will continue to be conducted through the National System of Procedures of SEMARNAT, up to their resolution.
