On May 11, 2026, the Ministry of Energy ("SENER" per its acronym in Spanish) published the "Second Request for Proposals for the priority handling of requests for power generation permits and Interconnection to the National Electric System, aligned with Binding Planning" (the "Second RfP"). This Second RfP continues the process initiated with the first request for proposals issued on October 17, 2025 (the "First RfP"), which resulted in the granting of 18 power generation permits by the National Energy Commission ("CNE").

On May 4, 2026, the President of Mexico announced immediate investment measures under the Plan México (the “Immediate Measures”). These actions aim at establishing measures to bolster public and private investment through coordination among different Ministries.

On May 1, 2026, an amendment to the Federal Labor Law (“FLL”) regarding working hours (the “Amendment”) was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation. In general terms, the Amendment introduces three key changes: the gradual reduction of the weekly working schedule to 40 hours, new rules regarding overtime, and the employer’s obligation to maintain an electronic timekeeping record.
